Quinn works for CBS2 News where he serves the station as a national weather anchor for “CBS Saturday Morning.” He has been working with the CBS2 New York/WCBS-TV since the year 2007 after a five-year run at WTVJ, in Miami Florida. His television career began when he was serving as an actor on ABC’s “All My Children.” He states that the experience allowed him to develop comfort in front of the camera which helped him perform exceptionally in local and national broadcasting.

Later on, after changing his career from acting to broadcasting, her first newsroom job was at WVIR in Charlottesville, Virginia. Asides from that, he was hired as a cameraman but three months into the job, he got a chance to report in front of the camera which solidified his new career path.

He states that soon afterward, his duties included full-time reporting and anchoring the weekend weathercasts. When he was in Charlottesville, he covered stories related to the Thomas Jefferson/Sally Hemings controversy and the famous baby switch at the University of Virginia Hospital. Asides from this, he has reported extensively on the rising political career of Emily Couric before her unfortunate death in October 2001.

He made his next stop in Miami and it was a turning point for his career. Lonnie states that not only was he promoted to full-time weather anchor but also allowed to develop his own, unique style. He has always been a fan of the weather and he hates the idea of a boring weathercast. Quinn’s goal is always to give the viewers the information they require in an engaging and entertaining way. He states that he feels that if he is excited by the weather, then the viewers would be too.

He was one of Miami’s most popular on-air personalities and guided the area through the most active hurricane season in history. For about five years, he worked closely with Max Mayfield at the National Hurricane Center. Asides from this, he has joined the “Hurricane Hunters” collecting data on a Category 5 hurricane as it flew through the eye of “Isabel” off the coast of North Carolina. He is a private pilot himself and holds a meteorology certification from the FAA.

Away from work, he loves to report a good story. He states that his belief is every other station in town will most likely be covering the same event.  Lonnie states that one had better come up with some way to make the storytelling stand out. He happens to be a proud winner of an Emmy Award for best on-air talent. Quinn attended Boston College where she graduated magma cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech Communications. Asides from this, he is a huge sports fan and swam competitively when he was in college.
