Since then, he has been honored for his work in both mediums by the West Virginia Broadcasters Association, the Ohio Associated Press, the National Sports Media Association (formerly NSSA), the West Virginia Press Association, and the Associated Press of the Virginias.

Martin received the West Virginia Broadcasters Association’s Dale B. Miller Award in 2023, acknowledging him as the state’s top broadcaster. He has also received an Emmy Award from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Ohio Valley Chapter) and three other nominations.

Besides his broadcasting work, Martin is a published author. He authored a book detailing the NFL coaching career and life of the late Paul Lanham. Since 2009, he has been Toastmaster for the West Virginia Sports Writers Association Victory Awards Dinner, the longest tenure in the dinner’s history. Also, he occasionally works as an MC for sports banquets across the area.
