Before working in Charlotte, he served KTBC FOX 7 in Austin, Texas as an evening meteorologist. While there, he regularly appeared on the red carpet for American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance. He also broadcast weekly entertainment segments aside from his daily weather forecasts.
Prior to Austin, he worked in Dallas, Texas at WFAA as a morning and noon meteorologist and co-host of Good Morning Texas. Additionally, he has worked in Colorado as a co-host on The Daily Buzz and WizeTrade TV. He worked as a host of CBS’ Making The Band. He started his broadcasting career in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina before heading to WCIV in Charleston.
Mathis also works as a public speaker where he produces and performs in nightclubs around the nation. For instance, he has a comedy show at Comedy Zone Club in Charlotte. He has worked as a stage performer with Charleston Stage Company, Majestic Theater, The Footlight Players, La Jolla Stage Company, Zachary Scott Theater, and North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.
