Matt Halverson Biography
Matt Halverson is an American anchor/reporter/director known for having worked at KBJR 6 as a sports director, a position he took up in September 2021. He joined the KBJR 6 team in April 2018, as a weekend sports anchor and reporter and departed in August 2022. He announced his leave from the station, on Friday, August 26, 2022. Halverson left the station for a job at Ardisam, Inc., where he has been serving as a Digital Marketing Manager since September 2022.
Rice Lake, Wisconsin is his native home and in 2012, he joined the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire where he graduated in 2017 with a major in journalism and a minor in music. In February, he relocated to Duluth where he joined the KQDS FOX 21 team as a sports photographer/production assistant before he later joined KBJR 6. He has always been interested in sports since his childhood days and his favourite sports are baseball and golf.
While he studied at Eau Claire, he was also actively involved with the campus broadcasting organization called TV-10 where he served as a sports talk show host and also helped in live athletic broadcasts. Halverson is also actively involved in the music department and played the trombone in UWEC’s Jazz Ensemble I. In addition, he shared the stage with a number of his jazz inspirations including vibraphonist Stefon Harris and saxophonist Jimmy Heath.
Furthermore, he also played in the Trombone Choir and the UWEC Wind Symphony. He also worked at WQOW News 18 part-time as a sports photographer and he gained experience while covering Wisconsin Badgers, Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers, and Milwaukee Brewers. During his leisure time, he enjoys new adventures outdoors, skiing, fishing, and golfing.
