Matt Hines Biography
Matt Hines is an American meteorologist working for KXXV/KRHD as the chief meteorologist. His forecasts appear on weekdays at 5, 6, and 10 p.m. He joined the station in December 2007 and has served the station for more than 15 years.
Matt Hines Education
Hines joined Texas Tech University when he finished his high school education in Lubbock, Texas. At Texas Tech, he majored in Broadcast Journalism. However, he transferred to Mississippi State University where he finished the Broadcast Meteorology Program in 2003. While there, he served KLBK in Lubbock as an intern.

Hines holds the National Weather Association Seal of Approval. Since he was younger, he knew he was interested in the weather. He recalls watching his neighbor’s fence blow away when a tornado hit his neighborhood. Ever since, his belief to become a meteorologist was cemented.
Hines joined KAMC in Lubbock, Texas as a weekend meteorologist in 2000. Following his work there, he moved to Amarillo, Texas where he joined KAMR as the weekend meteorologist in 2003 and was later promoted to morning meteorologist. In the spring of 2007, he was promoted to interim chief meteorologist. During his career, he has broadcasted many severe weather and tornado outbreaks both in the field and in the studio.
