Wintz meteorologist who works for WKYC-TV in Cleveland, Ohio as a meteorologist Monday through Thursday at 5 p.m., 7 p.m., and Sunday at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. Prior to joining WKYC-TV Matt worked as a chief meteorologist at WLTZ NBC 38 and The CW GA-BAMA in Columbus, Georgia Area from May 2014 to June 2017. While at the station he had proficient with Baron’s OMNI/VIPIR Sytems, WordPress, and Inception.
Before, coming to WLTZ NBC 38, he was serving as a chief meteorologist at Lakeshore Public Media in Greater Chicago Area for 5 years. While there he anchored a full newscast Morning show and evening forecasts for Lakeshore 89.1 FM. Additionally, Wintz hosted a gameshow for NW Indiana’s “Making the Grade”.
Watt spent two years as an Intern, Freelance Meteorologist at Ohio News Network in Columbus, Ohio Area. While at the station, he assisted Chief Meteorologist Eric Elwell during severe weather events. Moreover, Wintz also perfected broadcast presentation skills. Previously, he was a meteorologist Intern for WICU 12News for 6 months. Where he managed the storm spotter network of daily weather reports.

Matt Wintz Surgery
Wintz developed a scratchy voice in the summer of 2017. As the year went on, his voice became noticeably scratchy, especially when he was doing radio hits. Matt went to the Cleveland clinic’s head and Neck institute to get it checked out. He met with otolaryngologist Tom Abelson, MD, a specialist in Cleveland Clinic’s voice center. Dr. Abelson took a look at his vocal cords through a scope that goes through his nose. After making various sounds, he found a polyp on his vocal cord that was preventing them from vibrating together properly. Additionally, it was recommended that Matt go on vocal rest.
Unfortunately, his vocal situation did not improve, it actually got much worse in the spring. That’s when he decided to go for surgery. He scheduled another visit with DR. Abelson and also saw Michelle Adessa, BM, MS, CCC-SLP, a voice therapist at Cleveland Clinic. They all agreed that surgery was the best option for him. Matt shared a post on his Instagram page saying”I’m very happy with the results. The work that Dr. Abelson and his team do is unbelievable. My lower range sounds great, and I’m starting to work on the higher range”
