Jason Mikell is an African-American meteorologist working as a full-time forecaster at WKYC Studios in Cleveland, Ohio. He has been working with the station since September 2021. Prior to joining WKYC, he was serving as a forecaster at KVUE TV ABC in Austin, Texas from January 2018 to September 2021.

Mikell serves as a full-time forecaster at WKYC Studios in Cleveland, Ohio. Before joining WKYC, he served as the station’s sister station in Austin, Texas KVUE as a meteorologist, traffic reporter, and an Emmy-nominated morning anchor. Additionally, Jason worked at WLIO in Lima, Ohio in the Buckeye state where he served as a weekend meteorologist since 2016. Previously, Jason worked at Fox 29 TV in Greater Philidelphia Area from May 2015 to August 2015, where he served as a meteorology Intern.
While at the station he researched local events and climatological data for the weekly forecasts. Moreover, he developed and created weather information and images of weather maps and graphics for broadcast and digital platforms. In addition to that, Mikell also spent 3 months as a meteorology volunteer intern at Noaa National Weather Service. While there he researched climatological data on New Jersey Rip Tide deaths between 1998-2014 and presented findings.
Moreover, Jason assisted and recorded data on 3 storm damage survey assessments for East Gloucester, New Jersey, and Lehigh county, Pennsylvania. He also assisted at a local SKYWARN training session. Before joining the Noaa National Weather service, Jason was serving as a student assistant at the American Meteorological Society for six months. While he reported directly to Audio/Visual coordinating leaders. Jason also assisted chairpersons and speakers with uploading/visual PowerPoint presentations.
In March 2013 he joined Vitamin T as a client services manager /Recruiter. Where Jason worked directly with regional Directors and Market leaders to meet and exceed market quarterly goals. Additionally, he conducted phone and live interviews with talent across North America for remote and on-site job positions. Moreover, Mikell also coordinated and assisted in planning annual market talent events. Furthermore, Jason worked for Staff Plus where he served as a recruiter.
While there, Mikell maintained a weekly compliance, training, and interviewing database of over 70 candidates for open positions in the city of Philadelphia and its suburbs. He also worked directly with the Business Development team and Account Managers to meet and exceed market quarterly goals. Prior to that, Jason worked for the University of Pennsylvania for five months where he served as a purchasing assistant.
While at the University, Mikell performed quality Assurance on Purchase orders with suppliers and communicated daily states to the incumbent Purchasing Manager. Mikell began working at Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources where he served as a Human Resources Intern. While at the station conducted pre-employment screening of applicants by conducting background investigations.
Furthermore, Jason graduated from Mississippi State University with Bachelor’s Degree, in Atmospheric Sciences and Operational meteorology. Later on, he enrolled at The University of Southern Mississippi where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in colleges of Education and Psychology. Additionally, he graduated with Associate Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Pearl River Community College.
