Maureen Umeh is an American Emmy Award-winning anchor and reporter working for Fox 5. She has been working for the station since joining in 2002.

Umeh serves as an anchor and reporter for FOX 5 Morning. She joined the station serving as the evening and weekend anchor and reporter. She started her journalism career at a TV station in Champaign, Illinois while she was still in college. After she attained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, she landed her first full-time job at WCIA-TV. While still in college, she DJ’d,  had a radio talk show, and wrote for the university newspaper.

Umeh left WCIA-TV and moved on to work at WSPA-TV in Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina where she served as an anchor for the late evening newscasts at WSPA-TV. She has also been honored and awarded by quite a number of organizations including the Illinois Broadcaster’s Association; the South Carolina Television and Arts Association, and the NAACP.

Umeh was also part of the Upstate Leadership Council of the American Cancer Society where she served as a Chairwoman. In addition to that, she has also volunteered and worked hand in hand with several nonprofit organizations including an agency for disadvantaged youth by the name of Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and Mathew House. Whenever she is not working, she enjoys spending her free time with her family and friends, especially her daughter. She also enjoys traveling and trying out new restaurants.
