Meaghan Mackey Biography

Meaghan Mackey is an American journalist working for WESH as the traffic anchor on WESH 2 News Sunrise and CW18 every weekday from 4:30 to 10 a.m. since joining the station in August 2022. Previously, she worked at WKRG News 5 in Mobile, Alabama as a weekday morning reporter.

Mackey joined the University of Nevada-Reno in 2014 when she finished her high school education. In 2018, she graduated with a Bachelor Of Arts degree in Journalism. During college, she held an internship at WESH 2’s sister station KCRA 3.

Mackey works for WESH as the traffic anchor on WESH 2 News Sunrise and CW18 every weekday from 4:30 to 10 a.m. In this role, she helps Central Florida drivers pilot the interstates, highways, and regional roads by providing real-time traffic reports. Additionally, she reports and looks into transportation matters in the community that affect everyone including drivers, air travelers, train, and bus passengers, and pedestrians.

In her role as a transportation reporter, Mackey has broadcasted several big stories at WESH such as Sun Rail’s expansion to Deland, the launch of Bright line’s Orlando station, the launch of Terminal C at Orlando’s International Airport, and Florida’s Department of Transportation’s push to widen I-4 near Walt Disney World.

One of her favorite stories was delivering live reports and riding on Brightline’s first train from Miami to Orlando. She is also a travel expert who worked with WESH 2’s space broadcast team. She spearheaded the broadcast of Boeing’s inaugural successful human space flight from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station to the International Space Station.

The Central Florida chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving honored her with its Media Champion Award in 2024. She serves the committee as a volunteer during her free time and has worked there as an MC of many galas and 5ks since moving to Orlando.

Mackey previously worked at WKRG News 5 in Mobile, Alabama as a weekday morning reporter. There, she found the magic of Mardi Gras and reported on the forefront of one of the busiest hurricane seasons along the Gulf Coast. Her career started in Redding, California where she was a multimedia journalist at KRCR News Channel 7.
