Melissa Nord is an American Emmy award-winning Meteorologist working with 11Alive News in Atlanta where she serves the station as a weekend morning meteorologist. Previously, she was working as a meteorologist part-time at CNN and The Weather Channel.

Nord attended the Georgia Institute of Technology where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. She was privileged to be named one of Georgia Tech Alumni Association’s “40 under 40” graduates in the year 2021.

Baltimore area and the 2018 Emmy Award for Best Meteorologist in the Washington, D.C.-Baltimore area. She was most recently working part-time for The Weather Channel and CNN, where she covered the Atlantic Basin’s most active hurricane season on record as well as the Northeast’s largest snowstorm in nearly a century.
Melissa is an advocate for motivating others to be passionate about science, and she is looking forward to participating in community activities and visiting schools in the North Georgia area to promote STEM education. She was an active part of the local Children’s Science Center in Northern Virginia while in D.C., acting as a STEM Advisory Council member and coordinating weather events to assist engage youngsters in hands-on STEM learning at a young age.
Nord has also previously worked as a meteorologist at LEX 18 in Lexington, Kentucky. She began her career as a weather producer and graphics meteorologist for The Weather Channel in Atlanta. While in college, she worked as an intern with the National Weather Service Office in Peachtree City. There, she worked on a collaborative research study to explore ways to increase warning lead times during tornadic severe weather events.
