Mia joined the station as a multimedia journalist in 2019. Villanueva also worked at El Paso, Texas, where she worked as a breaking news reporter.

Villanueva got her start in news as a writer for the ABC affiliate in Portland, Oregon. She is a California girl at heart, who is a proud graduate of UC Berkeley, and a devout Kobe Bryant fan. Villanueva grew up immersed in the Filipino culture and considers the islands a little piece of home though she comes from the Golden State.
