He developed a fascination for meteorology at a very young age, having experienced The Blizzard of 1993, and witnessed the devastation of the Palm Sunday Tornado Outbreak on 1994. This is followed by the experience of Hurricane Opal of the year 1995, along with many other winter storms and severe weather outbreaks. Haynes is passionate about hurricane chaser.

He is thrilled to be home in Alabama, where he serves his family and friends. As he appreciates the time he spent in Mississippi, he claims the band “Alabama,” is his home, no matter where he lays his head. He is a lifelong Atlanta Braves and college football fan, who enjoys grilling, and watching what he says is the greatest show ever made, “The Any Griffith Show.”
