Mike Harvey Biography
Mike Harvey is an American meteorologist working for WTAE as the Chief Meteorologist. In this role, he delivers the weekday early and late evening weather forecasts for Pittsburgh’s Action News 4.

Harvey attended Metropolitan State College, where he majored in aerospace science. Additionally, he holds a broadcast meteorology certification and has received meteorological training from Mississippi State University. He learned to fly Cessna 152’s while in College.

Harvey works for WTAE as the Chief Meteorologist. In this role, he delivers the weekday early and late evening weather forecasts for Pittsburgh’s Action News 4. Additionally, he is also the chairman of WTAE’s Project Bundle-Up and assisted in the establishment of the Mars Exploration Celebration, and is chairman of the event. He has been working as a meteorologist for over 25 years and has worked for WTAE for over 10 years.
Prior to joining WTAE, Harvey worked for other stations all over the state, ranging from the persistent drizzle of the Pacific Northwest, the deserts and monsoons of the Desert Southwest, to the humidity and hurricanes of the Southeast.
Harvey was a navigator on an Ice Breaker with the United States Coast Guard. After graduating from college, he worked for Jeppesen–Sandersen Aerospace before leaving to play Rugby full-time for 12 years. In this capacity, he played in numerous international matches.
Harvey holds the Seal of Approval and is also a member of the American Meteorological Society. He also managed to receive the highest certification given by the American Meteorological Society known as the CBM. He has also been recognized with several awards due to his skills in his work as a TV meteorologist.
