Mike Modrick Biography
Mike Modrick is an American meteorologist working for WWSB as a meteorologist and reporter since joining the station in September 2020. Previously, he worked for KOTA as a chief meteorologist for over 3 decades.
Mike Modrick Education
Modrick joined Iowa State University in 1989 when he finished his high school education. In 1980, he graduated with a Bachelor Of Science degree in Meteorology with Double Major in Speech.

Modrick works for WWSB as a meteorologist on Good Morning Suncoast. Further, he created Discovering the Suncoast, a weekly series that explores the unique history in southwest Florida. He as always been interested in all types of science with dreams of becoming an archeologist, astronomer, and even started college in Computer Science.
Modrick caught the weather bug after attending one class in Meteorology. After graduating college, he joined TV News where he forecasted for 40 years from the Black Hills of South Dakota, to Washington, D.C., and now, on Florida’s Suncoast in Paradise.
During his career, Modrick has won several awards for his forecasts including the 2022 Best Breaking News, Large Market and the 2022 Best Weather Team for Hurricane Ian, Large Market from the Florida Association of Broadcast Journalists. In 2019, he won a nomination for an Emmy Best Weather Upper Midwest Emmy Region Award. The previous year, he won an Associated Press Award for the Best Weather in Upper Midwest Region. Additionally, he holds the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval.
