Mike Thomas is an American meteorologist and anchor/reporter working as a weekday morning anchor and reporter. He has been working for the station since 2011.

Thomas went to Catholic High School and later on joined the University of Maryland in Baltimore County where he majored in mathematics and physics prior to her attaining his degree in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology at Penn State University in 2012.

Thomas serves as a meteorologist at FOX 5 starting from 4 to 6 a.m. He joined the station as an intern under the guidance of Tony Perkins and Tucker Barnes. Thomas started his journalism career at Commodity Weather Group in Bethesda, MD where he aimed at forecasting techniques, extended range, weather model analysis, and seasonal forecasting. He has also made several appearances on stations like MSNBC, USA Today, Reuters, Bloomberg, and CNBC.
Thomas has also managed to interview several celebrities and politicians including Madona as well as Taylor Swift after he went viral in 2015. Furthermore, he often makes videos of “weather talks” on his Facebook page most especially during the snow season. He has also managed to enclose several extreme weather events including tornados and hurricanes outbreaks, and the 2016 great blizzard. He also spent several appearances as a fill-in reporter, traffic, and “Good Day DC” appearances.
In the spring of 2022, he was given a raise and started serving as an evening meteorologist, and took over FOX 5 Chief Meteorologist Sue Palka who retired. In addition to that, he is also a writer on fox5dc.com and is the FOX Weather Network’s Mid-Atlantic “Weather Champion”.
Whenever he is not working, he enjoys spending his free time in Columbia, MD with Sid, his golden retriever. Thomas was also voted by Baltimore Magazine, “Top Eligible Bachelors” in 2016. In addition to that, he also attends local sporting events and continues to play hockey, lacrosse, and volleyball. Some of the things he enjoys doing include traveling, learning about history, and technology, hiking, and skiing.
