There, he managed a sports department of four team members. For three years and eleven months, he worked for WTKR-TV in two roles. First, as a News Photojournalist from August 2015 to May 2016, where he shot, edited, and wrote content for The Locker Room show, shooted 16 live shots, and edited two packages daily for the morning newscast. Second, he was the weekend sports anchor from May 2016 to June 2019, where he anchored and occasionally fill-in during the weekday newscasts, and covered Redskins home & away games (shot down low highlights, report LIVE as MMJ).
There, he won the Virginia Association of Broadcasters’ Outstanding Sports Coverage for News 3 Sports’ ‘Bahamas Bowl Blitz’ in 2016. From April 2015 to August 2015, he was a News Editor at WAVY-TV 10. Prior to that, he worked at WODU Studio for three years and nine months in two roles. First, as a Radio Personality/Play-by-Play Broadcaster/Color Commentator from September 2011 to May 2015. And second as a Sports Director from May 2013 to May 2015. From August 2012 to May 2015, he was a Senior Writer at Mace & Crown. Mitch was a Sports Intern at WAVY-TV from August 2014 to December 2014.
He was then a Branding & Creative Strategies Intern at Leidos from June 2014 to August 2014. From March 2014 to June 2014, he was a Media Relations Intern at Mideastern Athletic Conference. He was also a mentor at Shop Talk from November 2010 to January 2014. From March 2013 to July 2013, he was a Johnny D and the 757 Club Mornings Intern at WXTG 102.1 The Game.
