Shortly after graduating from high school, Naydu attended Northwestern State University in August 2019 where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, Related Program, and Communication in 2023. In addition to this, Maya also holds an associate’s degree in general studies and a minor in music. While at the University, she worked as a reporter at NSU-TV as well as a photo editor at the newspaper.
Later on, Naydu worked for the Hispanic Student Journalist Association where she served as a vice president at NSU. She also created a podcast that was awarded the 2023 bronze Telly Award for featuring the life of Hispanics in Natchitoches. Currently, she serves as a reporter and multimedia journalist at KSLA News 12 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Naydu has been with the station for more than two months since she joined in January 2024.
Before joining KSLA News, Naydu worked as a photo editor at The Current Sauce in Natchitoches, Louisiana. While there, she cooperated with staff members and other editors to create campaigns mainly targeting a specific audience. Maya also established news ideas that captured moments and color-corrected photos for social media and galleries. She served the station for one year and five months from August 2022 to December 2023. Naydu started her career as a food server at Sodexo in Natchitoches, Louisiana, working there from September 2019 to October 2021.
