Patrick Elwood Biography
Patrick Elwood is an American journalist and general assignment reporter for WGN News. He has been working at WGN-TV since joining in 2013.
Patrick Elwood Career
Before joining WGN-TV, he worked for major TV and radio stations in Corpus Christi, Houston, Milwaukee, and Oklahoma City, and before returning to his hometown of Chicago. Some of his career highlights include two Blackhawks Championships, the coverage of the White Sox World Series, the Oklahoma City Bombing and the Bears Super Bowl, and the Oklahoma City Bombing, for which he earned a Peabody Award. Elwood credits his biggest accomplishment as the work he’s done with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, in which he, along with thousands of Chicago school kids, has raised over $12 million for pediatric cancer research.

Friday, WGN’s Patrick went under the clippers once again to help the cause. Elwood said, “it’s a time to be brave and go bald to raise money to fight kid cancer.” During this time, Patrick even made it clear and even became more personal when his daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Currently, her daughter is a survivor of cancer
Joining Patrick was the honorable Secretary of State Jesse White, whose tumblers put on quite the show too at Southwest Elementary School. The money raised was given to Chicago area hospitals for critical cancer research.
