Pete Grigsby Biography
Pete Grigsby is an American Meteorologist working with KMBC 9 News in Kansas City, Missouri where he serves the station as a Weather Forecaster. He has been working with the station since February 1999.

He is a proud graduate of Brigham Young University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Broadcast Journalism. Grigsby is also a graduate of Western Kentucky University where he obtained a Meteorology Degree.

Grigsby works with KMBC 9 First Alert Weather team where he serves the station as a weather forecaster. He has been forecasting the weather for more than 30 years. He has worked as a Meteorologist for stations in Indiana, Kentucky, and Virginia.
After about ten years working with KMBC, he adjusted his career path and accepted a job working as an administrator for the Blue Springs School District to accommodate better family hours. He also oversees a television station (BSSD-TV) and a radio station for Blue Springs’ high school. Asides from this, he also teaches meteorology and broadcasting classes. He continues to work on a limited schedule at KMBC, especially during threats of severe weather.
Prior to KMBC-TV, he worked with WTKR News 3 in Norfolk, VA where he was serving the station as a Chief Meteorologist. He worked for the station between WTKR News 3WTKR News 3 in 1996 and January 1999. Pete has also previously worked with WEVV-TV in Evansville, IN as a Chief Mhas also worked with WBKO where he was serving the station as a Chief Meteorologist between January 1990 and December 1992
He was an all-state high school basketball player, having scored more than 2,000 points. Having been offered to play college basketball at Auburn(with coach Sonny Smith and Charles Barkley), BYU, and other colleges, he instead decided to walk away from the sport and concentrate on studies in broadcasting journalism and meteorology.

Grigsby has the “Seal of Approval” from the American Meteorological Society. Away from work, he enjoys spending time with his family, serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, running, and playing piano.
