Phil Blauer is an American journalist working for KUSI FOX 5 as an evening anchor since joining the station in May 2014. Previously, he worked for KFMB, KCBS, KCAL, KCOP, and KESQ.

Blauer joined Cal State Fullerton in 1976 when he finished his high school education. In 1980, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Print journalism. In 1981, he joined the University of Southern California where he received his Master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism.

Blauer began his journalism skills when he worked for the student newspapers in high school. After graduating college, he worked in radio as an anchor for a weekly public affairs program aired on several Southland stations. However, he felt something the visual aspect of storytelling was missing and returned to school to gain a Master’s degree.
