Phil Scoggins Biography

Phil Scoggins is an American anchor working with WRBL-TV where he serves as a weekday co-anchor alongside Teresa Whitaker. He joined the WRBL-TV team in July of the year 1998.

Scoggins attended the University of Georgia where he studied in its Henry W. Grady School of Journalism and in 1974, he graduated with a degree in broadcast meteorology.

Scoggins has been working with WRBL-TV since July 1998, as an anchor. The idea to become an anchor was paned in him by a speech teacher during his junior high school years. Scoggins was able to secure his first job at WRFC radio in Athens, Georgia where he served as a sports director. During that time, WRFC radio was the flagship station for the University of Georgia football and basketball. In addition, he was able to later secure a job at WRBL-TV in Columbus in 1976 where he served as a sports anchor.

Phil worked at WRBL-TV for six years before he decided to leave television to pursue other interests. He began a corporate video production company which he run for a period of 25 years. Later in 1998, he decided to return to broadcasting and secured a job at WRBL where he serves as an anchor. Furthermore, he has worked alongside Teresa Whitaker for longer than any other duo in Columbus broadcasting history.
