Rachel Maddow Education

Maddow received a degree in public policy from Stanford in 1994. She was awarded the John Gardner Fellowship at graduation. Maddow received the Rhodes Scholarship and began her postgraduate studies at Lincoln College, Oxford, in 1995. She was also awarded a Marshall Scholarship the same year but turned it down in favor of Rhodes.

In 1999, Maddow started her career as a radio host at WRNX (100.9 FM) in Holyoke, Massachusetts. She, later on, started hosting “The Dave in the Morning Show”. After hosting “The Dave in the Morning Show,” she started working in Northampton, Massachusetts at WRSI where she served as the host of Big Breakfast for about two years and left in 2004 and joined the new Air America.
