She was born in Mansfield, MO, and raised on a farm near Belleville, KS. She is a proud graduate of the University of Kansas where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Meteorology.  Bird states that she knew she wanted to be a meteorologist since she was in elementary school but did not know what sector she wanted to work in.

While in high school, she enjoyed her journalism class and decided broadcast meteorology was the perfect way to combine her love for weather and journalism. Later on, she went on to pursue her goal through internships at WIBW-TV in Topeka, KS, and KHAS-TV in Hastings. This is in addition to volunteering at National Weather Service Hasting, and working with KUJH-TV at the University of Kansas.

Later on, she joined NTV because she enjoys seeing all four seasons and all kinds of weather which made Nebraska the perfect place to work. Away from work, she enjoys outdoor activities which include running and playing tennis. Asides from this, she also loves baking, watching college sports with family and friends, and playing the piano.
