Because of his exemplarity in his work, he has been recognized for his severe weather forecasting experiences by the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters and the Associated Press. At KOCO-TV, Rick’s team of meteorologists was recognized by then Oklahoma governor, Frank Keating for their exceptional work covering the EF-5 tornado in Oklahoma City in May 1999.
