Riley Blackwell is an American meteorologist working for WBMA as a meteorologist for ABC 33/40 since joining the station in September 2023. Previously, he worked for Alabama News Network as a meteorologist for nearly 3 years.

Blackwell joined Mississippi State University in August 2017 after finishing his high school education. In April 2021, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology with a concentration in Broadcasting/Communication.
While in college, he started his broadcasting career at Tennessee Valley Weather in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, while still in college, broadcasting northwest Alabama, northeast Mississippi, and southern Tennessee. He was also involved with the East Mississippi Chapter of the National Weather Association.

Ever since an EF-4 tornado passed less than two miles south of his hometown of Sylvan Springs on April 27, 2011, he has always known that he wanted to be a meteorologist. While growing up, he was always glued to the TV watching meteorologists during wall-to-wall severe weather broadcasts when severe weather was approaching.
Blackwell has a great interest in researching tornadoogenesis and supercell storm structure so that he can understand severe weather events more. He has a passion for storm chasing and seeing Mother Nature in action as he gets an adrenaline rush. After graduating from college, he launched his career at Alabama News Network in Montgomery.
