Rina Nakano is an American Reporter/Multi-media Journalist working for KCBS/KCAL | CBSLA serving the station as a Reporter / MMJ since January 2022. Prior to this, she worked for KGTV 10News located in San Diego where she served the station as a Reporter and Multimedia journalist. Being an alumnus of UC San Diego, she stated that she was excited to be back in America’s Finest City where she kick-started her news career began.

Nakano was raised in nearby Irvine, California. The year 2007 saw her being introduced to the local news scene right here at KGTV as a Multi-Media Journalist intern.

Since that, her journalism career has taken her all around the world. This ranges from Tokyo, Japan to Casper, Wyoming to the state capital. He has had the privilege of connecting with people and telling their remarkable stories. Among her most memorable experiences include meeting the survivors of the 2011 Great East Japan Tsunami.

Additionally, she uncovered the past of the first Japanese colonists to the United States, the latter of which earned her an Emmy nomination. She is most proud of being a wife to Scott and a dog mother to their Corgi-Chihuahua, Poke. Away from work, she enjoys finding Rina scarfing down tacos.
