Ben Higgins is an American Director/Host working with KGTV/10News Team where he serves the station as a Sports Director and Radio Host. He has been working with the station since the month of November 2002.

Higgins works with KGTV/10 News Team where he serves the station as a Sports Director and Radio Host. He states that he is a lifelong San Diego sports fan which puts him in some great company. Ben has been a part of the 10News sports team and his dream came true for him. He attended Torrey Pines High School and has been a die-hard sports nut his whole life. There, he was growing up with the Padres, Aztecs, Gulls, Clippers, Tereros, Sockers, and Chargers where he attended dozens of games annually.

Among his favorite memories includes attending Game 5 of the NLCS at Jack Murphy Stadium, and seeing the Padres beat the Cubs. This was in order to advance to their first World Series. He later decided to pursue his passion straight out of Pomona College when he joined XTRA Sports 690 radio in the year 1997. Three years down the line, he was chosen to co-host San Diego Padres’ Pre- and Post-Game Shows on AM 600 KOGO. The Spring Training of 2003 saw him show off his play-by-play skills, working alongside the legendary Jerry Coleman.

He joined the 10News sports team in the year 2002 where he was part of the station’s special coverage leading up to Super Bowl XXXVII at Qualcomm Stadium. Additionally, his nightly coverage at 6 PM and 11 PM. He has also hosted several 10News specials which includes four trips to Williamsport, Pa. Asides from that, he has also hosted the Little League World Series in the year 2005 and 2009, 2013, and 2015. When covering the championship team from Park View Little League in Chula Vista is one of his all-time favorite stories.

Asides from his television career, he has also co-hosted the top-rated radio morning show, “Ben and Woods” on the Padres’ flagship station, 97.3 The Fan. He has also previously hosted sports-talk radio shows on The Mighty 1090 and on XTRA Posts 1360. He has also served as one of the radio play-by-play voices for USD football, SDSU baseball, and USD basketball. Away from work, he is an avid golfer, carrying a single-digit handicap.
