Ron Futrell is an American Anchor/Reporter working with KLAS-TV in Las Vegas where he serves the station as a Sports Anchor/Reporter. He has been working with KLAS News since the year 1984.

Futrell works with KLAS News where he serves the station as a Sports Anchor/Reporter. He has worked in a number of local TV/Radio stations throughout the western United States. He began his broadcasting career in the early ’80s in Salt Lake City where he was working with KSXX radio and KTVX-TV. Later on, he went on to join KNDO-TV located in Yakima, WA where he was covering sports and news.

Over his broadcasting career, he has covered Stanley Cup Finals, Superbowls, World Series, NBA Finals, and NCAA Championships. Additionally, he has also reported on virtually every sporting event in Las Vegas over the past three decades including major boxing and MMA events, NASCAR races, and the rise and fall of UNLV basketball. This is in addition to covering the careers of local athletes like Randall Cunningham, Mike Tyson, Greg Maddux, and Andre Agassi among others. He is also well known for covering local high school and club sports in Las Vegas.

He is mostly known in Las Vegas for his work covering UNLV basketball throughout its glory days. Working as a host of Jerry Tarkanian TV shows for 10 years, he has been able to get the inside story on one of the most remarkable teams in college basketball history. Later on, he covered sports and news at KNDO-TV located in Yakima, WA.

He is a proud graduate of the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Asides from being a graduate of the school, he also serves as a journalism professor at the same University. He was the first to teach Sports Broadcasting classes at UNLV.

He says some of his greatest moments covering sports have been sitting ringside at the Hagler/Hearns fight in the year 1985 at Caesars Palace, watching the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels win the basketball National Championship in 1990, and witnessing the tremendous success of the inaugural season of the Vegas Golden Knights between the years 2017 and 2018.
