Ruthie has appeared in The Roar of the Greasepaint as Red Urchin and in Two by Two as Leah. In addition,  while she was off-Broadway, in 2011, she played Christmas Eve and other characters while at Avenue Q.

Furthermore, Ruthie earned a Lucille Lortel Award and Theatre World Award for her role as Imelda Marcos in Here Lies Love at The Public Theatre in 2013. She has also made appearances on national tours for Sweeney Todd and Annie. Over the years, she played many roles in regional theatre, and in the film I Am Michael, she appeared as a doctor.

In 2017, she went back to Broadway Frieda or Betty in the revival of Sunday in the Park with George. During a Kennedy Center concert production in February 2018, she played Svetlana in the musical Chess.

Dorothy Bruns was the woman who drove off and killed Abigail and another child was found unconscious and unresponsive in a bedroom and the emergency medical responders pronounced her dead. Ann was seven months pregnant when Abigail passed on and on May 11, 2018, the couple lost their unborn child.

All Rise is an American legal drama television series that first premiered on CBS on September 23, 2019. The series revolves around the personal lives of judges,  public defenders, and prosecutors, who are in a Los Angeles courthouse. However, after running for two seasons, the series was canceled in May 2021 and later picked up by the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) in September. Thus the third season of the series will premier on OWN and will debut on June 7, 2022.

It follows Judge Lola Carmichael (Simone Missick), who is a newly appointed judge. Judge Lola Carmichael is an idealistic former prosecutor and a newly appointed Los Angeles County Superior Court judge who pushes the boundaries and challenges the expectations of what a judge can be.
