Ryan Wichman Biography
Ryan Wichman is an American meteorologist working for WTOL as a weekday morning meteorologist. He joined the station in March 2011 and has served the station for over a decade. Previously, Wichman worked for a TV station in Quincy, Illinois.

Wichman joined Western Illinois University when he finished his high school education. There, he took calculus, physics, and dynamic meteorology classes. Above all, he enjoyed making and delivering forecasts at the campus television station. He later graduated with a Bachelor Of Science degree.

Wichman works for WTOL as a weekday morning meteorologist. When he was a kid, he was terribly afraid of storms, always diving for cover whenever they occurred. His fear ultimately morphed into fascination, making him realize that he wanted to be a ‘weatherman’ when he grew up during grade school.
Previously, Wichman worked for a TV station in Quincy, Illinois. While in Illinois, he discovered that storm chasing was his favorite hobby. During the last few years, he has traveled as far as Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas in pursuit of chasing the worst weather he could find.
The biggest chase he has experienced was near Wakita, Oklahoma in May 2010. At the time, he safely got within a half-mile of an EF-3 tornado. Tornadoes are not the only things he chases as he keeps traveling to ‘Tornado Alley’ year after year because of the sheer strength and beauty of storms. Bearing all his experiences in mind, he is a reliable meteorologist when severe weather threatens the region.
