Sabrina Ullman Career

She looks forward to living in Duluth, even though she has yet to experience a “real winter.” Originally from central Florida, she has never been in subzero temperatures or more than ten inches of snow. In Tennessee, school would be canceled for just an inch or two of snow.
Unlike most kids who dreamt of being a superhero or something similar, Ullman has always been passionate about the weather. When she was 4, she pointed out a meteorologist on TV and said that was what she wanted to be when she grew up. This interest was intensified by hurricanes Charley, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne in the summer of 2004. That summer cemented what she already knew, wanting to be among the meteorologists who stand at a beach during a hurricane and tell everyone to stay inside. She maintains that there’s something really exciting about hurricane, especially the eerie calm in the eye.
During her first semester of college, Ullman was in Hurricane Irma, which led to the campus being closed for a few weeks. Luckily, her grandparents lived less than twenty minutes away, and she stayed with them. This allowed her to experience another hurricane, even though her grandparents closed the hurricane shutters and made her stay inside as Irma made landfall. She enjoyed chronicling her experience on Facebook Live before, during, and after. She is now excited to experience the diverse weather in the Northland, attend Beargrease, and see the leaves change color.
