Sarah Alegre Biography

Sarah Alegre is an American journalist currently working as the Weeknight Evening Anchor at KFXK Fox 51. She joined the KETK News team in June 2020.

Sarah attended the Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California, where she studied communication. She also minored in the Entertainment Industry at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts. She used her passion for storytelling to further her education at USC, where she took numerous screenwriting classes and worked for Annenberg Media, the university’s independent news organization.

Her passion for creating began at a young age. Sarah developed a passion for storytelling through movement and artistic expression as a competitive dancer. Sarah worked as a multimedia journalist for USC’s television and radio broadcasts, as well as contributing to Neon, the school’s digital magazine. Her desire to learn more about the world around her prompted her to pursue a career in journalism. What makes this passion so rewarding, according to Sarah, is acting as a voice for the community and a mediator in storytelling.

Outside of school, Sarah was a member of the USC Song Girl Program, where she danced at all of the Trojans’ home and away games. She enjoys playing the guitar and exploring the great outdoors in her spare time, in addition to dancing.

KETK-TV, virtual channel 56 (UHF digital channel 22), is an NBC-affiliated television station licensed to Jacksonville that broadcasts in Tyler and Longview, Texas. Nexstar Media Group owns the station and, through a shared services agreement (SSA) with owner White Knight Broadcasting, also operates Longview-licensed Fox affiliate KFXK-TV (channel 51) and Tyler-licensed low-power MyNetworkTV affiliate KTPN-LD (channel 48). KETK’s transmitter is near FM 855 in unincorporated northwestern Cherokee County, and the three stations share studios on Richmond Road (at Loop 323) in Tyler.

KETK-TV was previously broadcast on the Nacogdoches repeater station KETK-LP (UHF analog channel 53). It began by simulcasting KETK’s entire schedule, but by the late 2000s, it had begun to produce local news inserts focusing on the Nacogdoches–Lufkin area. Because KETK-low-powered LP’s signal only covered the immediate Lufkin area, viewing the station outside of the city required cable. Consolidated and Suddenlink in Lufkin and Communicomm in Huntington carried the station. KETK has avoided mentioning its channel number in its station IDs, newscasts, or promotions in recent years. In those instances, the station prefers to use only its call letters.
