Sherri Jackson is an American two-time Emmy award-winning anchor and managing editor who works at CBS 42 where she serves as the weekday evening anchor at 5, 6 & 10 pm. She joined the CBS 42 team in January 1998.

Jackson works at CBS 42 News where she serves as the weekday evening anchor at 5, 6 & 10 pm. In 1987, Jackson joined Morehead State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Radio/ Television Communication in 1990. She has spent two decades of her career telling the stories of the people of Central Alabama at CBS 42 News. Sherri was named by the Alabama Broadcasters Association as the Best News Anchor in Alabama five times.
For covering AIDS in the city of Birmingham, she has received recognition, and a National Association of Black Journalists was awarded to her for her piece called AIDS from Alabama to Africa. In addition, while serving as a reporter, she has devoted herself to telling the stories that touch people’s lives through special reports called “Faith in Action.”
Furthermore, she launched her series, Faith in Action after she went on a mission trip to Arusha, Tanzania. She divided her mission team to cover the story of a missionary doctor in Bomet, Kenya who stated that she was miraculously healed after testing positive for HIV.
In 2007, what happened at Tenwek Hospital became her first Faith in an Action story. In addition, she has served on a number of boards with non-profit organizations that serve women and children. A number of those organizations include; Red Cross Blood Services, The Foundry Ministries, Lawson State Community College Foundation, Childcare Resources, UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Children’s Aid Society.
She has a documentary called, Hope and Honor: A Tribute to four girls and for which, she was awarded an Emmy award in 2014. Prior to joining the CBS 42 team, she worked at WGXA-TV in Macon, Georgia, WSAZ-TV in Charleston, WSAV-TV in Savannah Georgia, and Huntington West Virginia. In addition, she is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc, and Radio Television Digital News Association.
Furthermore, over the years, she has received awards and honors such as; an Emmy award in 2016 for Dangerous Connections, a National Headliner Award in 2015, a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Hard News in 2015, an Emmy nomination in 2014, and 2015 for best news anchor, an Associated Press Television News Anchor award in 2014, an RTDNA/UNITY award for Continuing the Dream in 2011, an Alabama Broadcaster Associations ABBY Award for Stand Up to Cancer in 2009, an SPJ Green Eye Shade Award Public Service in Television Journalism in 2013, a Childcare Resources “Friend of Children” Children’s Advocacy Award in 2010, and 2012, Edward R. Murrow.
