Stan Stovall is an American retired anchor and reporter best known for his time with WBAL. He rejoined the WBAL-TV 11 News team in April 2003 and retired in November 2022. With a career that spans 5 decades, he had his last newscast on 11 News at 6:00 p.m. alongside Deborah Weiner on 23rd November 2022.

Stovall is best known for his time with WBAL. He rejoined the WBAL-TV 11 News team in April 2003 and retired in November 2022. With a career of just about 5 decades, he had his last newscast on 11 News at 6:00 p.m. alongside Deborah Weiner on 23rd November 2022.

He joined the station for the first time from 1978 to 1983 and served as the primary anchor for the weekday evening editions of 11 News. In April 2003, he rejoined the station and started off by serving as co-anchor of the weekend edition of 11 News Today. In August 2003, he was given a raise and started serving as co-anchor of the weekday editions of 11 News Today and 11 News at Noon.

Further, in October 2003, his role at the station was changed and he started serving as co-anchor of 11 News at 5 p.m., adding to his morning duties. He was then given another raise and started serving as a co-anchor of 11 News at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. in December 2013. Stovall previously worked for WMAR-TV in Baltimore where he served as the primary evening news anchor. 

In July 2021, he publicized that he is planning to retire in 2022. He started his journalism career in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1970 at the ripe old age of 17. Furthermore, he was the very first African American TV news reporter in the state of Arizona and has encouraged many black people in his state.

Stovall has also managed to win several awards ever since he started his journalism career. For instance, he received an Emmy Award in 1985 as the Best Television News Anchor in St. Louis. He went to Southeast Asia in 1988 where he enclosed a civil war in Myanmar (formerly known as Burma) for three months.

During his time in Southeast Asia, he spent one and a half months living in the jungle combat zones of Burma, and the rest of the one and a half months in different cities like Seoul, Bangkok, Tokyo, and Manila. He also went to Central America during the Contra War in Nicaragua and reported Live Ukraine and Russia prior to the fall of communism in the former Soviet Union. In addition to this, he also went to Rome in the Vatican City for the elevation of William Keeler (Baltimore Archbishop).
