Sydney Gray is an American anchor and reporter working for WMC-TV in Memphis serving as a reporter and anchor. Before joining the station in August 2022, she worked for KVEO in the Rio Grande Valley as a morning anchor.
Sydney Gray Education
Gray attended her elementary school and high school education in her hometown in Texas where she worked at a local channel, Frisco-ISD TV. After high school, she attended Oklahoma State University in 2012 where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Media in 2016.
She got her first internship at KTUL Tulsa’s Channel 8 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sydney served the station from June 2015 to August 2015 where she edited news and pitched stories. In addition to that, she is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the National Association of Black Journalists.

Prior to joining WMC-TV in August 2022, she worked for KVEO, the NBC affiliate in Harlingen, Texas where she served as a morning anchor. While there, Sydney was in charge of reporting, producing, and anchoring stories that affected the Texas and Mexico border. She also covered women’s health in the Hispanic community, immigration, and presidential border visits.
Sydney Previously worked for KMTV in Omaha where she served as a fill-in anchor and MMJ from September 2018 to August 2020. During her time at KMTV, she delivered daily news and wrote, edited, and posted digital content for social media platforms.
Sydney started her career in August 2016 working as a news reporter and MMJ at KXII in Ada, Oklahoma. She also reported major breaking news including the sole bureau that occurred in five counties across Southern Oklahoma. On top of this, Gray also investigated hospital malpractice and covered natural disasters, school scandals, and murder trials. Her most powerful effective story was a story she covered about a man who was wrongfully convicted of murder and spent 30 years in prison.

Throughout her broadcasting career, Sydney has covered multiple stories including the College World Series and the 100-year commemoration of Will Brown, a black man who was lynched in the middle of the city. She also covered the opening of the Lydon House, a home for previously incarcerated people in the LGBTQ + community. Aside from working as a journalist, Gray worked for Nancy Lieberman Charities in Dallas, Texas as an intern. She also worked as an executive assistant for the company from 2013 to August 2013.
