Tearsa Smith Biography

Tearsa Smith is an American journalist working for WATE as a morning anchor for On Your Side since joining the station in June 2022. Since January 2023, she has been the host of Voices of the Valley with Tearsa Smith. Previously, she worked as a news reporter at WKAG in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

Over the course of her career, Smith has received multiple awards, including the Clarksville/Montgomery County School System’s Point of Pride Award for Excellence in Education Reporting in 2002. In 2013, she earned the Golden Press Card Award from the East Tennessee Society of Professional Journalists.

Smith enjoys the local news because of the idea of helping someone start their day. She has always been a morning person and hopes some of what she delivers to Good Morning Tennessee helps someone get out the door on the right foot, informed and ready to take on the day.

Smith serves on the board of the Wesley House Community Center. She is also an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Knoxville Alumnae Chapter.
