Ted Reinstein Biography
Ted Reinstein is an eminent American award-winning Broadcast Journalist working for WCVB as a reporter. He joined the station in February 1988. In addition to his journalism career, he is an author of a number of books. His first book, New England Notebook: One Reporter, Six States, Uncommon Stories was released by Globe-Pequot Press in May 2013. His most recent book is Before Brooklyn: The Unsung Heroes Who Helped Break Baseball’s Color Barrier.

He works for Boston’s WCVB Channel 5’s Chronicle as a reporter since 1995. This is the nation’s longest-running locally-produced nightly news magazine. He joined the station in February 1988 as a reporter. As a reporter, he has a strong background in generating unique and engaging feature stories and as a writer, he takes advantage of one of TV’s last long-format platforms to tell those stories compellingly. Also, he provides commentary on Sunday mornings for the station’s political roundtable show, “On The Record”. Since 2010, he has been a member of the WCVB editorial board. In 2010, he was one of five national finalists for the Washington Post’s opinion-writing competition. In 2002, he was part of a Chronicle team that received a prestigious National DuPont-Columbia Broadcast Journalism Award for the Chronicle’s coverage of Boston’s Big Dig Project.
Because of his story on the “Good Night Lights”, phenomenon in Providence, Rhode Island, he received an Emmy Award in 2018. From 1995 to 1997, he worked as a correspondent/Host for The Travel Channel. There, he hosted pilot episodes of Travel Channel’s photo-adventure series, “FreezeFrame”. Reported stories from the volcanoes of Hawaii, the coral atolls of Tahiti, and the rainforest of Puerto Rico. For one year, he worked as a reporter/host for Discovery Communications from 1995 to 1996. There, he hosted the premier season of Discovery Channel’s “Popular Mechanics Show”. In 2016, Globe Pequot Press released his second book, Wicked Pissed: New England’s Most Famous Feuds. His newest book is New England’s General Stores: Exploring an American Classic written in collaboration with his wife.
