Teresa Whitaker Biography

Teresa Whitaker is an American Anchor/Producer working with WRBL-TV where he serves the station as an Evening Anchor and is a member of the Production department. There, she serves the station as the 5, 6, and 11 PM night Anchor. She joined the WRBL team in March 1987.

Teresa is a Kendrick High School graduate and later on, she attended Chattahoochee Valley Community College where she graduated with an Associate of Arts. Later on, she joined the University of West Georgia where she earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications.

Whitaker works with WRBL-TV where she serves the station as an Evening Anchor and as a member of the Production department. She first joined the station as a member of the Production department as she was awaiting an opening in News, The opportunity presented itself six months while working for the station.

As a reporter, she has been able to cover a wide range of stories from general assignments to the government and crime. Asides from that, she has also anchored morning cut-ins, the weekend newscasts, and now anchors at 5, 6, and 11 PM nightly.

Working as the Health Watch reporter, she is skilled at making people comfortable enough to share the most personal and emotional stories. She even recalls one story about a young man who fell asleep on a railroad track and was struck by a train. He is grateful a plastic surgeon was able to reconstruct his badly injured foot.

She has been recognized by the Associated Press, the NAACP, and Sisters Inc. which honored her with the Rosa Parks Award of Courage in Communication, ToastMasters International, her alma mater West Georgia College, and The Courier-Eco Latino Newspaper, among other organizations.

Away from work, he enjoys service to her community as much as a sought-after emcee, speaker, cancer presenter, and mentor. Asides from that, she also volunteers at her church with the Women’s Life group and the Drama Center which feeds and clothes homeless and low-income families.

She is also a former member of the Columbus Are Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors and an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She was born in Fort Huachuca, Arizona. Being an army brat, she lived abroad, and on military posts in the U.S. The Columbus/Harris County area is her home.
