Maddox joined Eastern Michigan University in 2002 when she finished her studies at the Detroit School of the Arts where she was a dance major. In 2007, she graduated with a Bachelor Of Science degree in Journalism with a TV and Film minor.
While in college, Maddox was an intern at Radio One Detroit and WDIV Channel 4. At WDIV, she shadowed news reporters, anchors, and photographers. She was also a student host and producer of Emag. Additionally, she was a dance teacher at a studio in Detroit.
From 2012 to 2013, she studied Communication, Public Relations, Advertising, and Applied Communication at the University of North Florida. In 2017, she joined Lasell University, graduating with a Master’s degree in Communication and Health Communications in 2020.

Maddox has also worked in Lafayette, Louisiana where she was a reporter and multimedia journalist at KLAF/KADN. Further, she worked in Alpena as a morning anchor, reporter, and producer at WBKB News. Aside from journalism, she worked as a PSA at Pediatrix/ Regional Obstetric Consultants of Jacksonville for nearly 8 years.
