Tony Kornheiser Biography
Tony Kornheiser is an American television sports talk show host working for ESPN News in Bristol, Connecticut as the sports co-host. He joined the station in 2001.

Kornheiser joined George W. Hewlett High School, where he also worked as a sports editor in the school’s paper. He was first enrolled in high school and finished it in 1965, then enrolled in Harpur College, now known as Binghamton University, where he took a course in English literature. It was also at this time that he declared journalism as a major and started working at the Colonial News (now known as Pipe Dream). Through his time at college, Kornheiser stayed an optimist and his college experiences set him on the way for a media all-rounder job.

Kornheiser started working for ESPN Radio while continuing to write for the Post in a weekly column in 1997. The same contract brought his populist and amusing ‘Parting Shots’ columns in ESPN The Magazine (1998–2000). In 2001, Kornheiser began co-hosting with fellow Michael Wilbon. A sports debate TV show that has garnered legendary status mostly among sports fans. In addition to being an analyst Kornheiser still gets in front of the audience with his radio program and podcast. His show began back in 1998 and was later revived in 2016 as a digital program that includes sports analysis.
Kornheiser has also been involved in print media. He was an employee of Newsday from 1970 to 1976 and became a journalist for the New York Times from 1976 to 1979. He worked for The Washington Post as a staff writer where his work flourished. Throughout 1979 and 2008, Kornheiser was a regular columnist for the paper. His ability to write across these fields made him one of the most prominent personalities in the sports writing industry, as acknowledged by most people today as one of the most gifted sports media personalities of the century.
However, before joining W.F.P., Kornheiser had started his career in New York City working for Newsday as a high school sports writer from 1970 to 1976. Additionally, working for the Times in New York (1976-1979) enhanced his writing ability as a reporter. Kornheiser attained the Post in 1980 as a general assignment reporter, becoming a full-time sports columnist in 1984.
Due to the intensity of coverage during the 1990s, Kornheiser continued to write around three different columns in a week. Working days were primarily focused on sporting activities and Saturdays were reserved for women readers while Sundays targeted the general public.
