Tracy Butler Biography
Tracy Butler is an American meteorologist working for ABC 7 Chicago where she has been the meteorologist for ABC 7 News This Morning since 1995. Butler also serves as a meteorologist for the station’s 11 AM newscast and gives weather updates for ESPN 1000 Radio. She is currently known as the longest-running female meteorologist in Chicago.

She attended the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and graduated with a B.S. in Broadcasting. Tracy later went to Mississippi State University where she was awarded her meteorology certification in 2001.

Butler is the meteorologist for ABC 7 News This Morning and also serves as a meteorologist for the station’s 11 AM newscast. She joined ABC 7 team in 1994 after working at WRIC-TV in Richmond, Virginia. In February she became an annual contributor to ABC 7’s live coverage of the Chicago Auto Show and as well plays in the CATA’s (Chicago Automobile Trade Association) annual golf outings. Before, she had co-hosted the Chicago Air & Water Show and All-Star Shootout Golf Show on ABC 7. She filled in for weather anchors Spencer Christian and Tony Perkins on ABC’s Good Morning America from 1993 to 2002.
Prior to joining ABC 7, she anchored the morning and noon weathercasts at WRIC-TV in Richmond, Virginia. (1992-93). Prematurely, she was the chief weather anchor at WFMJ-TV in Youngstown, Ohio (1988-1991). She started her broadcasting career as a weathercaster at WTRF-TV in Wheeling, West Virginia (1988). In 2013, Butler along with co-director, Scott Woodruff, began a golf outing called The Duke Classic, to tribute to the memory of long-time ABC 7 professional of the operating camera, Michael Dukewich, who succumbed in 2012. The outing raised nearly $100,000 to benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository & the Wounded Warrior Project.
She promotes the expertise of young children via her Weather Sketcher’s Club, which inspires children to send their weather-associated drawings for ability airing on ABC 7 News This Morning. “I LOVE seeing how children specify their creativity via paints, markers, crayons, and pencils”.
