Travis Chinn Biography

Travis Chinn is an American journalist currently working as the Sports Anchor at KTIV-TV. He joined the station in March 2021.

He started college at the University of South Dakota but graduated with a degree in Journalism/Electronic Media from Northern Arizona University.

Travis Chinn Career

His first job out of college happened to be with KMEG-TV in Sioux City, where he worked as a News Reporter/Weekend Sports Anchor. Travis decided to return to Arizona after working at KMEG for a few years. He worked as an Insurance Claims Adjuster for a variety of companies in Arizona, but his mind was always on returning to television news. Travis returned to Iowa after spending a few years in Arizona, and in 2014, he was hired as the Chief Photographer at KMEG.

Travis had the chance to cover everything from Presidential campaign stops, breaking news, weather events, local city council meetings, and a variety of other events in our viewing area in that role. He was also given the opportunity to cover sports. Travis moved to the Sports Department as a Sports Reporter/Weekend Sports Anchor after three years as the Chief Photographer.

He covered everything from Division I college sports to NAIA college sports, professional teams in our area, and many local high schools in our viewing area of NW Iowa, NE Nebraska, and SE South Dakota in his role as Sports Anchor. Travis left television news in 2019 but returned to KVLY in Fargo, ND in August 2020 as a Morning Producer. Travis was hired as the Chief Photographer at KTIV in Sioux City in December of 2020.
