As a high schooler, Mike Lyons took him under his wing and helped him follow his meteorology dream. His interest in weather was cemented after the 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons. Through it all, he has realized that one should be a labor of love, not money.
After graduating college, Allender worked in Panama City Beach at WJHG/WECP for nearly 5 years. There, he helped navigate his audience through Category five Hurricane Michael, one of the worst hurricanes in U.S. history. The hurricane ruined the Panhandle and even affected parts of Georgia and Alabama. For several days, he stayed there to brief residents before, during, and after the storm.
Allender exchanged tropical weather away for a few years for Johnson City, Tennessee at WJHL where he broadcasted 10 inches of snow in on his first day. He worked in Johnson City for three years before he moved to the Chattahoochee Valley, which is closer to family in Florida and warmer. Active in the community, he interacts on social media and explains the weather to students when he visits schools.
