Whitney Ward is an American Anchor/Reporter working with KREM 2 News where she serves the station as a co-anchor for KREM 2 News at 10 and 11 every weeknight. Asides from that, she also serves the station as an investigative reporter and joined the station in 2013.

She attended both Eastern Washington University and Washington State University with pride. She transferred to WSU after three years at Eastern for the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Communications program. Whitney began her career after graduating from college at KFYR, the NBC affiliate in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Ward works with KREM 2 News where she serves the station as an Investigative Reporter and Co-anchor. After her graduation from the University, she kick-started her career working with KFYR, an NBC affiliate station located in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Additionally, she also worked as a reporter and weekend anchor for about three years where she was covering politics, and countless National Guard stories for military operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. Asides from that North Dakota is also known for severe weather, therefore, making it uncommon for her to do live shots in temperatures 20-40 degrees below zero.

Her career, later on, took her to the CBS affiliate station in Youngstown, Ohio where she was working with WKBN as the main evening anchor. Additionally, her work also allowed her to cover two presidential elections, numerous tornadoes, and countless stories about crime, politics, and business. She later on even got to tour the world-famous Handel’s ice cream shop. The tour was later on ranked as one of the best in the WORLD by National Geographic.

Additionally, her investigations have also helped lead to changes in state policy as well as local government procedures. Her relentless pursuit for truth after both fires helped bring attention to serious flaws in response protocol. Washington lawmakers later enacted new legislation to help prevent catastrophic wildfires and protect fire victims.

In the year 2016, she conducted an in-depth investigation of the WSU Bear Center. This was after learning about the deaths of two yearling cubs’ research facility. Her eye-opening report “Bear Facts” earned a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Investigative Reporting, and also received a regional Emmy nomination for Investigative Reporting.

Later on, in the year 2017, she took one of her biggest stories yet, the widespread groundwater contamination at Fairchild Air Force Base in Airway Heights. There, she uncovered decades of unchecked chemical pollution and directly questioned Fairchild’s highest-ranking Base Commander about possible solutions for contamination victims. Her lengthy investigation earned her a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Investigative Reporting.

She is passionate about her work with Mother Against Drunk Driving. As a part victim of a drunk driver, she is a strong advocate of education programs for youth and stronger penalties for offenders.
