Will Tran is an American Anchor/Reporter working for KRON4 News in San Francisco Bay Area where he serves the station as a Reporter/Anchor. He has been working with the station since August 2004.

Tran is a proud graduate of Washington State University’s Edward R. Murrow School of Communication. There, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications and Media Studies in the year 1994. While at the University he was a proud member of Student Government (Asian Pacific American Student Association) and Washington State University President’s Honor Roll.

Tran works for KRON4 News where he serves the station as an Anchor/Reporter. He has been reporting in the Bay Area since 2001. He made his first stop covering numerous high-profile stories which include Arnold Schwarzenegger’s run for California governor and the search for Laci Peterson and the eventual arrest of Scott Peterson. In Peterson’s story, he will not only provide local coverage but also did live shots for MSNBC.
During the spring of the year 2004, he was serving as a freelance reporter for KVVU-FOX in Las Vegas where he was privileged to win an Associated Press Breaking News Award for being the first to report that the Ohio snipper, Charled McCoy Jr. and was arrested at a casino in the overnight hours. Asides from this, he also went live numerous times that day for many major cities like Los Angeles as well as FOX News.
The summer of the year 2004 saw him move back to San Francisco, working with KRON where he is one of the morning show reporters. Through the years, he has provided reports and live coverage on stories such as the collapse of the Macarthur Maze, the court appearances of Phillip and Nancy Garrido, Barry Bonds’ pursuit of the home run record, and the search for Sandra Cantu in Tracy, CA. Among the most fun stories that he has covered include all things San Francisco Giants during the team’s run to the World Series and victory parade.
Prior to arriving in San Francisco in the year 200o, he also freelanced and reported for KATU-ABC in Portland, Oregon. Asides from this, he managed to say goodbye to the rain and hello to the sunshine when he was made a morning reporter at the Orange County News Channel in the Los Angeles market.
From 1996-1999 Will reported at KGMB-CBS in Honolulu, Hawaii where he won a Society of Professional Journalists Business Story of the Year in 1998. Before Hawaii, he was on another island, the U.S. Territory of Guam, where he reported at Guam Cable News from 1995 to the fall of 1996. Will started his career at KNDO-NBC in Yakima, WA. He graduated in 1994 with a B.A. from Washington State University’s Edward R. Murrow School of Communication.
Between the years 1996 and 1999, he reported for KGMB-CBSW in Honolulu, Hawaii where he won a Society of Professional Journalists Business Story of the Year in the year 1998. Prior to moving to Hawaii, he was on another Island, the U.S. Territory of Guam. There, he was reporting at Guam Cable News from 1995 to fall of 1996. He kick-started his career working for KNDO-NBC in Yakima, WA.
