Aaron Farrar Biography
Aaron Farrar is an American journalist working for News4JAX as a weekend morning reporter and fill-in anchor since joining the station in June 2021. Previously, he worked in Roanoke, Virginia at WFXR as a morning news reporter and primary fill-in anchor for a year.
Aaron Farrar Education
Farrar joined Rutgers University in 2011 when he finished his high school education. In 2015, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Media Studies specializing in Sports Journalism as well as a Music minor.
While in college, he worked for RU-TV Network as a segment producer and was a beat reporter for Rutgers Athletics with RVision. In addition, he worked with the Big Ten Student U program as a camera operator.
Farrar held internships at Sportsnet New York, WABC-TV Eyewitness News, and News 12 New Jersey. Aside from broadcasting, he worked as an orientation leader and participated in on-campus ministry as a musician. In 2013, he went to Los Angeles for an alternative spring break community service trip.

He worked in Chattanooga, Tennessee, at WTVC as a multimedia journalist for two years before he moved to Roanoke.
During his time in Tennessee, he has attained multiple Associated Press Awards for his journalism. In 2018, the Associated Press named him the best TV reporter. In addition, he won a Best Short List Feature Award for his story about a World War II veteran who attained his high school diploma at the age of 99. He also did a story about a two-year-old girl who went missing and was discovered sleeping on a porch a few blocks away from home. This story earned him the 2019 Associated Press award.
Farrar worked in Parkersburg, West Virginia at WTAP for 3 years, starting in 2015. He started his time in the Mountain State as a multimedia journalist before he was promoted to weekend sports anchor and reporter, a position he held for 2 years. During his time there, he covered an elementary school basketball player who participated in a national free throw tournament. The story earned him an Ohio AP Best Feature Story Award. His mentor Jay Dow and the late Harold Dow inspired him to chase after a broadcast journalism career.
