He kick-started his TV News career working in Alpena in the year 1996 and then spent more than a decade as an anchor/reporter in Traverse City.
Bartelmay was away from the area for 3 ½ years in Boise, Idaho, and Joplin, Missouri, but the draw of Northern Michigan brought him and his family back.
