Andrea Mitchell is an American anchor, correspondent, and commentator working for NBC News in Washington, D.C. She joined the station in July 1978.

CBS-affiliate to work for WTOP (now WUSA). After two years, she moved to NBC’s network news operation and served as a general correspondent. During her tenure at NBC News, she was named the NBC News energy correspondent in 1979. She also reported on the Three Mile Island nuclear accident and the late-1970s energy crisis. From 1981 to 1988, she covered the White House until becoming a chief congressional correspondent.

The has dual American and Canadian citizenship, becoming the leader of the Yukon Liberal Party and a member of the Legislative Assembly of Yukon.
