Anthony Yanez is an American Meteorologist for NBC4’s weekday newscasts at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Yanez holds seals of approval with prominent weather organizations including the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and the National Weather Association (NWA).
Anthony Yanez Career
He joined NBC4 in 2014 when Southern California was in the midst of a historic drought. One of the first projects he worked on with the NBC4 weather team was the station’s 30-minute special, “El Nino: Currents of Change,” which won Yanez his first Emmy.
With over twenty years of broadcast news experience, Yanez found his passion in weather. Prior to Los Angeles, he was the morning meteorologist for the NBC station in Houston, covering a wide spectrum of weather in the region. He helped viewers navigate through extreme heat, humidity, severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hurricanes.
Yanez was also part of a team that won an Emmy for their coverage of the “Old Fire” in Calabasas. His passion is not only presenting an accurate forecast but also explaining why we are getting the weather we get. Anthony is an active community member and is passionate about teaching youth about his profession. Yanez is a published author of the children’s book A Wild Ride on the Water Cycle, A Jake and Alice Adventure, a tale of two water drops.
