Ashlee Baracy Biography

Ashlee Baracy is an American meteorologist working with WDIV Local 4 News where she serves the station as an Evening Meteorologist for the 4Warn Weather forecasts since January 2023. There, she works for the weekday morning, at noon, and streams on Local4+.

Prior to this, she was working for 10TV where she served as the Chief Meteorologist who forecasted weather news on weekdays at 5, 6, and 11 pm. She has been working with the 10TV weather team since 2015. In addition, she can be heard forecasting the weather on Amazon Alexa and on Sunny 95, 97.1 The Fan.

In 2003, Baracy joined the University of Michigan where she earned a Bachelor of General Studies in English and Sociology in 2007. Later on, she studied at Eastern Michigan University where she earned a Masters in integrated marketing communications in 2010. In addition, she has also studied at Mississippi State University where she graduated with a Broadcast Meteorology Certification in Meteorology in 2014.

Prior to this, she was working for 10TV where she served as the chief meteorologist and the weekday forecaster at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m. newscasts. Southeast Michigan is her native home and she brought over ten years of news and weather experience to her role at 10TV. Baracy began her career at WDIV in Detroit where she served as a general assignment reporter and traffic reporter. Not long after, she began serving as a filling anchor and a meteorologist.

In addition, not long ago, together with the Doppler 10 Team, they were nominated for an Emmy for their weather special entitled  Doppler 10 Ahead of the Winter Storm. The Ohio Associated Press Media Editors awarded her the Best Weathercast award for three consecutive years from 2018 to 2020.

Furthermore, she was voted in the Columbus Dispatch’s “CBUS Top Picks” as Best Weather Person from 2019 to 2021. During Ashlee’s first pregnancy, she inspired a conversation on body positivity through her experiences with body shaming and her message went viral. The message made headlines in the New York Post, People Magazine, and on the Today show.

Furthermore, hopes to create a way for young girls interested in pursuing a career in STEM. Baracy is also passionate about volunteering for the Komen Race for the Cure and The American Cancer Society. She is also devoted to giving back to her community and being a voice for the voiceless. The Karmanos Cancer Institute honored Ashlee and her mother in 2013 as Heroes of Breast Cancer for their advocacy work.
